Requirements

At Holy Family University, we're much more interested in the quality of your work, your general promise and seriousness of purpose than in counting units of study. Therefore, we like to know about not only your academic record but your interests, your personal integrity and your desire to pursue a quality education. While we value diversity in all of its manifestations, neither your religious affiliation nor your ethnic characteristics influence the granting of admission.

Criteria for Admission

  1. Proof of graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent.
  2. Acceptable scores on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or ACT.
  3. Completion with satisfactory grades of 16-units of high school work distributed as follows:
    English (4 units)
    History (2 units)
    Mathematics (3 units)
    Modern Foreign Language** (2 units)
    Science (2 units)
    Electives (3 units)
  4. All majors must complete a full year of Algebra I and II and Geometry.
  5. Students planning to major in mathematics, nursing, radiologic science or science are expected to have completed the following high school courses:***
    Mathematics - Trigonometry
    Nursing - Biology, chemistry, a science elective, and 3 units of social studies (history)
    Radiologic Science - Biology and chemistry; physics recommended but not required
    Science - Biology, chemistry and trigonometry.

* Exceptions to any of these criteria can be made at the discretion of the University authorities. Adult students 25 years of age or older who may not have previously attended college and who seek admission to Holy Family need not submit SAT/ACT scores.

** Students without the foreign language requirement may be admitted to the university and will be placed in the introductory level of a language.

*** Students who have not completed any of these courses will be advised to take the appropriate university courses.

  • Application for admission with $25 fee
  • Official transcript evaluation by World Education Services
    (Course-by-course evaluation: High school and/or College)
  • Appropriate TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or SAT Test Scores (TOEFL: 213 on computer-based test; 550 on written test, 79-80 on Internet)
  • Copy of current visa and/or I-20 form
  • Statement of Support form (must also be notarized)
  • Proof of financial responsibility/capability (Bank statements, proof of sponsor income, etc., anything that complements the statement of support form)

    Other Important Information

  • Those in F-1 status must attend Holy Family full-time (F-1 status is a student visa: it’s for “full-time study” and nothing else)
  • Not all students need to be F-1; depends on circumstances and current visa
  • Holy Family University can now offer scholarships to International students (must have specific academic criteria, similar to all U.S. students)
